The t.f.s 6 was made by burning matches on canvas. The matches laid head to head flat on the canvas. Lighting one match at the beginning of the line caused a walking fire to the end of the line. This principle was being repeated from the left to the right of the canvas. Line by line the matches were burned. Direction to the smoke fumes and intensification of the burning processes were caused by the wind that breezed through the open window into the studio.

t.f.s 7 is made bij lightning matches on canvas. The matches placed head to head flat on the canvas so that lightning one match caused a walking fire. This pattern was build line by line. From the bottom lines upward to the middle, the last line that closed this pattern burned it's clear mark in the heart of the canvas.

Info t.r.u 7 water mud canvas 30X50CM

Tru 7 is made out of various types of local mud, from deep dug soils to lingering sediments. All these samples of mud were taken from the ground of Utrecht (Netherlands). By taking samples of mud from different places and putting them next to each other on one canvas, the wide variety of their properties becomes visible. You've got muddy rivers en muddy roads, this mud was put on canvas by me and some others.

t.r.u 1 is made out of two types of mud samples: one came from the waterbed and the other came from the waterside. By placing one drop of each type close to each other, the two of them merged together.  This mud represents mud (on canvas).

t.r.u.f 9 is made with drips of mud. Towards the outsides of the canvas water was gradually added to the mud. While trying to maintain a grid we fail, in return we receive form. While we build impressive things we might still be performers instead of creators, i don’t know. This mud came from Kenia, Africa.

t.r.u.f 1 is made with drips of mud. Two types of mud from different places. One from Andalusia, Spain, and the other one from Utrecht, the Netherlands. Water was gradually added to these muds and that’s why it becomes lighter towards the middle. Some drips merged, others didn't , you can view these happenings by zooming in.

t.r.u.f 4 is made with drips of mud. Two types of mud from different places. One from Kenia (Africa) and the other one from Medjurgorje (Bosnia y Herzegovinia). Water was gradually added to these muds and that’s why it becomes lighter towards the middle. My grandma brought the mud from her pilgrimage to Bosnia. She took the hotel spoon, pushed it into the ground, packed the mud and gave it to me. Guess it’s these generations of motherly figures that lead us towards the light.

Tru 9  is made out of various types of mud: from deep dug soils to lingering sediments, taken from different places. Each type had its own property. Those properties as well as the complex of the pattern cause the muds to merge and effuse over the canvas. Many things are formed by the mud and dust from the ground, like houses and roads, rivers and drinking cups, me and you.

t.r.u 11 is made out of various types of mud: from deep dug soils to lingering sediments. By taking samples of mud from different places and placing them next to each other on one canvas, the variety of their color (gradients) becomes visible. Every sample of mud has its own property. Those properties as well as the complex of the pattern caused the muds to merge and effuse over the canvas. Some mud did not stick on the canvas, that mud as well as the mud that did sticked makes it looks like this.

t.f.s 5 is made by burning matches on canvas. This image is formed by holding on to a pattern that consists of a single burned match combined with a cross-form, which is burned out of five matches. The ignition marks of every single burned match can be viewed by zooming in. Direction to the smoke fumes and intensification of the burning processes were caused by the wind that breezed through the open window into the studio.

t.f.s 4 is made by burning matches on canvas. The pattern consists out of four matches that were burned together and four matches that were burned separately. By repeating this principle, this image occurred. The ignition marks of every single burned match can be viewed by zooming in. The little white stripes were caused by the smoke fumes that crossed the matches that were laid on the canvas. Direction to the smoke fumes was given by the wind that breezed through the open window into the studio.​
